Cool Cbr 954 vs. 1000rr

So today a buddy of mine bought a 07 1000RR. Since he didnt have his license and needed to get it on the post installation housing, I took it home for him. Ive eyed the 1000RR for awhile, since my brother bought a 06 600RR. I liked my brothers 600RR but the 1000 not so much. It was extremely uncomfortable. The rear sets sat high, i felt like my knees were at my chest. It was very smooth through the RPM's all the way through 6th though. BUT! I dont think it pulled any harder than my 954. Now besides the "new" factor, I would definitely chose a 954/929 over one..... So if you guys are wanting one, test one for yourself prior to selling your 954 and picking up a 1000RR.

Default 954rr Vs. 1000rr

It's really the rider whom controls the horse between the legs. I've seen 1000rr that couldn't keep up with my 900rr but it maybe the rider? Try a Corbin seat on the 954rr, wow! Unbelievable & worth the $$$$ I've never tried the 1000rr maybe someday.

I just sold my 02' 954RR and bought an 08' 1000RR..All I can say is WOW!!Man if you ever get the chance to ride one, you will be amazed...It really blew my mind when I first rode it..Its really is that amazing. Yes it has stupid power, but the handling and feel are unreal..Light as a feather, manuevers like an BMX dirt bike at less than 5mph, after that like nothing I have ever felt before..Honda really got the 08'+ 1000s right..Really, Boy I think I'm in love..Best handling, most nimble bike I have ever rode..Its like it can read my mind and does what I want before I know it..LOL

You rode an older generation '07 1000RR. Strap on an 08+ 1000RR and you'll see the difference. Handles like a 600, weighs about 380 lbs dry and accelerates like a rocket sled.

I like the 1st gen ones but the new ones are beautiful to me. The 1st gen just feels like ****. When i do ride a 08 ill know if the looks go with the comfy ride...

the newer 1krr's look good race trim (bodywork wise), but when i see one with the lights still on it, i just don't like them. the 954 has sharp edges in its headlights and fairings, so does first gen of the 1krr, but the new ones just look ...."soft".... imo. it looks too friendly, i think bikes should look pissed off, like they want to kick someone's ***, not make friends with them...

but i will say the tail is killer looking on the new gen 1krr, and i like the short stubby exhaust.

honda is going back to the "lighter is better" method of bike design which i do like, but i hope they bring out another model soon because they are getting killed in the production classes

I agree! I do like the 08+, even with the puppy dog headlights, but meaner is better.

I rode my friends 05 1000 RR. I think my 954 has more acceleration. it didnt feel any more powerful than my bike at all. And ya it wasnt nearly as comfortable.

Once again, an older generation 1000RR. You don't know what you're missing.
