Hey guys,
I was wondering how our 954's stack up to modified cars or stock cars like a Subaru STI or Mitsubishi evolution. Or any storys you have involving racing cars on the road, I want to here how well our bikes are stacking up. In my opinion the bike is a monster you can do 150mph flat out and the bike is still pulling for more I think it would destroy most cars on the road.

 

Any (average) stock car on the road a liter bike will beat. Ferrari or Lambo is gna be tight..

Ive met a slightly modified Evo at a light, 2nd gear...

Supercharged Mustang Fox body on the highway, stayed in fourth or fifth he wasnt going anywhere, then his car started smoking..

3rd or 4th flat is really all you need in my experience.

 

The 954 weighs like 160 kilos or so and puts out around 125whp or so stock? Correct me if I'm wrong. That's damn near a 1:1 power to weight ratio. Very few cars can claim the same. Cars have it when it comes to aerodynamics, but just learn to tuck when the winds get violent. In my experience it's difficult when it comes to a dig because you're dealing with such a short wheelbase and small contact patch, but hey, I've seen some guys pulling like 1.4 60 foots on two wheels.

 

bikes have the advantage on a race from a dig because of the power to weight ratio. those other factors (like aerodynamics) come into play at higher speeds, so rolling start races are taking some of the advantages of bikes away. look at 1/4 miles times. bikes usually trap much slower speeds than cars do for the same ET.

as far as the OP is concerned, you can certainly make cars faster than bikes, but it does take quite a lot to get an STI or evo to that point. i've blown the doors off of a few heavily modded SRT-4's, and i've had a Z06 and Z07 not be able to hang with me.

That's what I was excepting to hear, I've seen a 954 with a slip on exhaust beat a Lamborghini Gallardo on YouTube.

That's very true.

 

You might have your work cut out for you if you run across a new mustang gt with a blower. They don't mention how much boost, but they say race fuel. Still, the new 5.0 is impressive compared to the 4.6L in the 2005-2009.

I wouldn't worry about any stock exotics, unless it's a Bugatti veyron. Most of them aren't faster than a liter bike and I can't imagine many people that would buy one, modifying it to go faster.

 

Our bikes would kill a stock mustang gt 5.0 though

 

The problem with high performance bikes boils down to the skill level of the rider generally, meaning a poorly ridden bike will put up a bad showing compared to a pro ridden bike. I drive a modified Porsche 911 Turbo as my fun car and the only way it's going to beat even a stock 954RR is from a higher rate of speed when aerodynamic drag really starts to hurt the bike. The 954RR is amazingly fast (and quick) if ridden well!
