Default Buying a 2003...

Hey Guys, I just became a member, so HI EVERYONE!!

If my trade falls through this weekend, I believe I will be the new owner of a 2003 954rr. Its got just over 9,000 miles. From pictures, it looks mint.

As far as I know, the only mods include exhaust, a custom tune (due to the exhaust change, as i was told), windscreen, and frame sliders.

Im essentially going to be paying $4200 for it.

Any thoughts, comments, or jokes?

Man, that thing is sharp. And 9k miles for 4200 is a good price, too. (based on what I keep seeing... )
Welcome to the CBRF, dude!

Thanks guys. I like to think I am getting a decent deal. I've done some local craigslist pricing and bikes like this are listed at $5000+

Looks and sounds like a great deal! Just be sure to give a good once-over to look for signs of stunting/abuse, check the tires, chain, sprockets, ask about maintenance records, all the normal stuff. If it's in as good a condition as it seems, and with the low miles, it looks a terrific deal.

From what the guys tells me, he rides the bike somewhat hard at times. He has mentioned doing wheelies a few times and riding fast occasionally, but he also takes really good care of the bike. Changing oil every 1500 miles, using only honda oil and filter. He is also in his mid 40's and a ploice officer so I am somewhat assured of his honesty.

Agreed. They can get away with a lot more than we can. It's one thing to do some triple digit speeds, but if he admitted to wheelies I'd be looking at this bike real close for damage and/or premature wear from other stunting activity. It's probably fine, but better to be safe than sorry. Make sure you can take it for a test ride so you can run it through the gears, check the forks, clutch, rotors, etc. I'd also fork out the $30 to do a carfax on it. Good luck!

LOL. ironic.

However, I would treat it as any other bike, go through everything, in the new member section there is a sticky with a check list on it. What to look for ect. I also NEVER buy anything without a vin report.
