Default 99 f4 sold yesterday...954 today! $2300 booya!

i was sad at first to see the f4 go but, im happy again. so here is the story, i picked up a 02 954 with 27,000 miles for 2300 bucks.

owner said to me over the phone it has a slight oil leak from the bottom of the engine but, was sure it wasnt at the water pump (thats what i suspected to begin with, easy fix) and it needed a new battery and thats it. he said it was in good running order and cosmetically its good too. now, back to the oil leak, by the way he was talking, i new it had to be stator or clutch cover then i thought it could even be the oil pan leaking. any of those i could fix cheap and easy and was hoping the whole time it wasnt a leak that would requir a engine tear down or i would not buy it.

anyway, got there and first thing i noticed was that had no front fender and cracked in two places at the upper fairing which looked like he came down once really hard from a wheelie. fork seals where good though so, no big problem. test drive it ran good and handeled great. even though a red light on the dash stays on (in between the neutral light and the left turn signal arrow light) again it seems to run good though. then i checked/ inspected for the oil leak and sure enough, it was leaking from the water pump (i didnt tell him that though) new i had an easy fix for what he though was a night mare job.

i hope that all is good after i fix the oil leak and check out why the red light stays on. i even got that o-ring in my shop already for my f4 i had, same part number. we will see this week how it runs.....

is the red light flashing? if it is, that's your FI light - it'll tell you whats wrong. if it stays solid, its over heating or low on oil. i wouldn't run it until you've sorted the problem though.

good find. i'd do it in a heart beat

slight knocking is almost normal for the 954. they don't run as quiet as the newer bikes. but as far as the leak and light. fix before riding. one you don't want to over heat it or god forbid the leak gets worse and leaks onto the tire while riding. it wouldn't hurt to maybe have the valves checked over and scope the cyllinders. yea its a bit of a pricy job but it could save you money in the long run. best of luck and its a damn good job on finding it !!!!=+++222222 haha
