Default 954RR Plugs

The manual states to inspect the plugs at 16K and change them at 32K My bike only has 11K so I'm sure the plugs are just fine according to the service manual, but doesn't 32K sound a bit to high to you guys?

I was thinking my air filter needed to be changed and I hear you need to remove the gas tank I'm not sure how often it needs to be serviced, but if I do that I might as well do the plugs while the tanks up.

If you remove the plugs to inspect them, replace them. It's too much of a pain to remove them and put old ones back in. Does your manual really say 32k? My 929 manual says to replace at 8k miles. They should be the same...

Same with the air filter. You need to remove the tank to get to the air box. If you take it all apart to check it, replace it.

The 954 uses Irdium plugs I am pretty sure, it says to inspect at 16 K and replace at 32K can anyone else confirm this with there 2002-2003 cbr954rr manual thanks. The mileage just seemed a bit high but if it really doesn't need replacing why should I bother. bike seems to start and run fine

I could throw in a set but I could also save money but not worry about it, if they can be good up to 32k

I replaced mine @ 24k and when I checked the old ones they were still in great shape.I have the old ones still,I will check again @ 48k and use the old ones if needed. These plugs are too expensive to not re-use them.

i feel like it's kind of like oil. time, how you've kept the bike, and how you've ridden the bike all matter. imo, if they're the plugs from '03, change em.

but i guess i didn't realize they're $55 for 4. that is expensive....

idk why, but i don't feel like i paid near that amount. i must have gotten an off brand or something...

I believe sparkplugs.com has them for $9.00 a piece.Could try taking the NGK number to your local auto parts store and see if they have them for less.

Removing the tank makes checking the air filter sound intimidating....its really not. All you do is tilt the tank up and prop it up. There's even a prop rod already there for you. You can also do it with fuel in the tank, so no big deal at all.

The price for the spark plugs is really a non issue in my opinion considering they last so long. If you had a tuning problem and kept fouling them up that's one thing but $50 for 30,000kms? That's cheap!
