Default 954 vs 1000rr?

besides price tag, does the 954 have any advantages over the 1krr? i might want to pick up a 954 in a few years to come, once my riding skill has improved.

if you're just making the move from a 600 to a larger bike, the lower hp and torque of the 954 may be more forgiving than a 1000. it also has slightly more upright ergos, which translates to a more comfortable ride.i'm looking to upgrade from my 600 to either an '02-03 954 or an '04 1000, i went to a used sportbike dealership and sat on a couple and just in the parking lot, i could tell quite a difference between the two. i'm not extremely tall, but at 6 feet i've found that not every sportbike fits me (i've sat on several lately), and the 1000 felt a little cramped compared to the 954 (not by much, but i can imagine on longer trips it would get uncomfortable). in the end i'm probably going to pick the 954 because i will be commuting to and from work on it. i might even end up picking a naked sportbike for the comfort factor, but i'd much rather have a full-faired sportbike.

hmm thats a good question, i love the 954 better than any bike i every been on. i also wouldnt mind havin a new bike but who doesnt want somethin new?! to me the hp to weight ratio is great to me about the 954, been on the new rr and yes they have plenty of power but it fells like they moved the rearsets up by atleast 3 inches(not true, just sayin what it fells like), and the seat is like a piece of cardboard wit a leather rap! but all in all its all about personal preference, i would get the new rr but not if i had to trade my 954 in for it.

im 6'2...and it sucks getting on some bikes...for the longest time i have been doing the 01-03 gsxr...i love them...great bikes and all....fat tanks...fit us bigger guys well...but i love the 954....it fits me about perfect..tanks not as lange but its not small like a f4i where my knees would be up against the air inducts......the seat is ok...i think i am going to upgrade to a corbin....the gsxr seat was alot better...the gel seats came on almost any of them you bought..but i am alot happier with the 954 handling and looks wise...the 1000rr is a great bike but i also noticed it was a little smaller and i really did not see a huge differnece in the 64 extra cc's

yea gixbusa +1 i am about 5'10 and have been on gixxers intill i met this 954 and i think i was sold on it bc of comfort and it has a lot more potintal that most bikes...i have seen 54 stretched and loaded up with juice on a drag strip..and i have seen the out perform a lot of bikes on a track......just depends on your riding preference...they are a strong all round bike...
