Hey guys I found a beautiful 954 RR for sale locally and I've been eying it very closely, I used to have a 929 and I put about 11,000 miles on that baby before selling it. To cut to the chase it's been a couple 3 years since I've been on a bike and I'm wondering what sorta questions I should ask the owner, beyond the obvious, and what kinda things should I listen for? The bike has very low mileage @ 5,500 for a 2003 and it's had the first couple of services done, but are there any little things that are known to happen with 954's that I should be worried about. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

what are the common/known probs specific to 954's

 

They all (in my experince) have some lifter noise untill they get warmed up. So it might sound funny when he fires it up but it should go away as it comes up to temp. I looked at a lot of 954's before I settled on mine. You might be able to get one cheaper. But if you like that one that price is fair. I got my black/gray one for $4500 and it had full 2bros scotts stabilizer and a PCIII. I thought I hit the jackpot at $4500 though

 

I bought an 02' 954 two months ago with 6,000 miles on it for 3500. I got the deal of the year, but Anything around 4,000 dollars is a good deal. I love my bike. They make great power and are way to much fun not to get in trouble with....

 

i paided 4800.... but it was worth every penny.. +1 for getting into trouble to easy

 

i got her last year an 03 with 1200miles had plastic damage did the paint job myself.
