Default 954 Akrapovic or Hindle

Hi, I have a 2002 954 and am considering a new exhaust. I currently have a Devil shotgun 3/4 system on it and love the look and sound but i want more power. I want to upgrade to a full system. I had my heart set on a Micron serpent but was told their no longer in business and nobody has a system in stock. I can get a great deal on a Hindle front section but then I have to buy a muffler or for a few hundred more I can get the full Akrapovic.

I have some mild head work done and run a wet nitrous system on it. I will be upgrading from a PCIIIr to a PCIII usb and ignition module this spring. Looking for 150+ rwhp on motor with out sacrificing too much low end.

Any input i can get on these systems will be greatly appreciated.

if you're looking for the power, go with the akra. the other nice thing about akrapovic is that if you ever lay it down, they sell titanium repair kits for your specific model of exhaust that you have. so even though it is more expensive, that's what i'd go for if i could afford it.

I agree! I run the full Akro and havent looked back. I think for your current set up and eventually mating it up to the PC3 usb....Its your best choice.

Did you have yours dynoed? if so what kind of numbers did you get? Also with removing the HTEV did you lose much low end power?

if you go with a full exhaust, you'll be removing the htev. all of the full exhausts get rid of them. and remember, when you have a full exhaust, it's more in the tune of your PC then anything else. if you have a bad tuner at the dyno, you'll be losing out on power. when people say that you loose power down low, they are generally talking about lower than 4k rpms, which i generally don't ever use unless i'm starting from a start. i generally cruise 4.5k - 6k - which is gettin into the middle ground. so i always kind of chuckle when i hear people say "well ya, but you lose bottom end..." because we have sportbikes, they're never meant to be in the bottom end of the powerband!

also, i know akra designs their exhausts around power EVERYWHERE, as opposed to just peak hp.
