954 or 929 for wheelies
Well i am looking to get a bike sometime soon and i originally wanted a gsxr 750 or a 1000 but the gsxr's tank seems to be so wide that when i sat on it and with one leg up tryed to shift the gears it always wanted t hit my knee on the tank and made it difficult. I just also really liked the seat comfort of the gixxer because it seems softer and more pad when ur closer to the tank. But now i am looking into a 929 or 954 but as far as a wheelie bike i am not very familiar with the bike but have read in other sites that the 954 is a harder bike to wheelie than others so i wanted peoples oppinions. I am not looking for the fastest top speed bike just a good bike for doing wheelies. Past experiance on wheelies on a 125 dirtbike but thats it.thanks and as far as comfort between the 929 and 954

Well honestly, the 929 is better out of the box. However, the reason that the 954 is not as good for wheelies is the anti rollover technology added for that model. You can fix this by buying some transistors from Radio Shack or an aftermarket chip.
The real difference in the bikes is that the anti lean angle gyro for the 929 was recalibrated to be used for anti rollover in the 954. They are backward compatible or you can update and add a second gyro for either to have both anit lean angle and anti rollover.

hey I don't know what you have been reading about the 954 but it is one of the most easy bike to wheelie. they have huge balance points and are easy to control in a wheelie. go look at the pro stunters. a lot of them are riding either 954's or F4I's. I've heard the F4I's are a little smoother for the slow stuff but if you are more into highway wheelies then the 954 is the way to go. the only bad thing I can say for the 954 is the head shake they get. for some reason the 929 gets less head shake than the 954 but it can be fixed by getting a steering damper. every time I go out and ride, I at least ride 4 or 5 highway wheelies on my 954. I'm not talking about the power wheelies that you see all the squids doing and thinking there all cool. I'm talking about stand up wheelies back into the balance point. If it's not over a mile or two I don't consider it a wheelie. I hope that this might bring some light on the subject for you. I know a little about riding wheelies being that my longest wheelie was just shy of 6 miles and I only set it down because of the cop that was following me for five of of them

i am with this guy i have an 03 954 and the first time i tried to wheelie it the damn thing blew out the gyro it was all fucjed up i went to honda dealer and it cost 1800.00 dollars to fix it and to have the system removed is going to cost an arm and a ****ing leg.
if you want a bike for stunts get some beat up peice of garbage you don't need to get a nice bike and ruin it doing stupid ****

I think you should just skip the little bikes and pick up a new gold wing. I mean they have an 1800cc motor, I bet that thing will wheelie like hell. You wouldnt even have to worry about falling over backwards, the luggage would act as a "wheelie bar" of sorts. Then you could ride them for at least 10 miles, you know, so it can be considered a "real" wheelie.

Ain't my fault you can't ride you own bike. move from california so you don't get that ca emissions bul**** that ****s up the gyro. mine is a fifty state bike. I haven't had any problems with mine except for just now buying my first set at 18,000 miles. I can ride almost 12 o'clock wheelie for as long as I want with no problems. you come to kansas I'll show you how to ride a 954 if not, don't get pissed when someone puts you into the other category of riders...

Oh yeah, I'll trade the twisty roads, umpteen race tracks, and ocean for the beautiful amber waves of grain in Kansas just so I can do some wheelies. I'll take the 10 hp hit just to actually enjoy riding my bike- a buddy of mine is in Witchita and he complains about it every chance he gets.
