Default 520 conversion kit

Hey, so i just went to order my new chain...and ended up buyin a 520 conversion kit -1 front sprocket. I kinda got talked into it, i was planning on keeping it all stock. Will i need to get a speedo recalibrator? anyone with this same setup, how is it? thanx.

Good idea. Not too fond of a smaller chain on a 954 (and your speedometer would be way off). My 954 is stock gearing, does great.

I beg to differ . . . I know it is all individual opinion, but my 520 conversion is my favorite mod on my bike. I went up two on the rear and down one on the front and it really brought the bike to life. I would recommend it to any 54' rolla.

However, I understand the concern of putting a smaller chain on a liter bike. Still, I don't see my RK snapping anytime soon.

i love my conversion kit.. but i went with stock gearing. i think i have over 10.000 miles on mine.. plus i only have to adjust it . well not very much. .. but i just ride my bike . i dont beat the **** out of it.
. i dont understand why you would want to change gear teeth..
if you want to excellerate.. just go down a gear.. right.??
our bikes are QUICK enough..when i want to pass someone. i just give it gas. tada done.
if i want to go quicker.. read above.
o well its ALL GOOD..

Have no problem with changing the gearing, you just don't need a different chain for that. I've had the "normal" -1/+2 with the 530 on and off through the years and did try the 520 once. With the same gearing, I couldn't tell a difference betweem the 520 and 530.

The 520 won't last as long, and is not as strong (which means it will stretch more than the 530. I don't think any of todays quality chains will snap). I use the 520 on my 600, but I'll stick to the 530 on the 954. 20K miles and it hasn't hardly stretched on this chain (DID ERV2). I can't get anywhere near that with the 520.

Yeah it was kind of a impulse buy...it was a gold chain which i really didnt want. Im staying with a 530 chain, and instead of just -1, im going -1/+1. From what ive heard its a whole new beast like that.

Gonna try a +2 on the rear myself but I'll stay with the 530. Stronger and as stated above the 520 is not really noticable, there is just not enough of a weight diff to really matter.
