I'm sure this has been covered on here somewhere but here goes....I'm going to replace my 530 chain with a 520. Also I'm goin to do the sprockets just not sure about the gearing. Right now I'm running -1 n the front and stock in the rear. I see a lot of kits with the chain and sprocket with -1 front and +2 rear. Does anyone ride with ratio and if so how much is your top end comprised. I was also thinking about just going with +2 in the rear and stock on the front, same question with that setting. A lot questions, right!!! Thanks for all of your opinions.

I just recently went to a 520 chain. Prior to that I ran -1 +2 with the 530. With the 520 I noticed even quicker acceleration due to the reduction in unsprung weight. As far as top end loss, I never hit it, so I cannot say with certainty how much is loss. 10mph or so loss is what I've heard. But you gain so much low end torque and grunt that surely makes up for it.
Put it this way, I can pull a clutch wheelie in 3rd gear @ 75-80 mph with ease. I was hesitant to go with the 520, but I'm glad I did. Just get one with the correct tensile strength and you're good to go. Hope this helps. By the way, I have an 02 954.

Top end is way overrated. It's not how fast you can go that's important, it's how fast you can get there.
I tried -1 front with the 530 chain and it made 1st gear to jerky. I also don't like that there is no easy way to fix the speedo/odo.
Does anyone take off in 2nd gear with the -1/+2 combo? leaving stop lights, making a left was a hair raising experience with just -1 front, in first gear.
