Had the exact prob, had fuel in tank, has good spark, was running before, was hearing the fuel pump kicking in pre-start? & well for me it had to be fuel, so i started with the pulling of the fuel tank & had a little of grunge which I totally cleaned out, & fuel pumps are cheep as so i fitted a new one of them, But when i pulled the fuel filter I discovered it was clogged with this rust colored sludge & using a 50ml syringe hooked up to a 8mm tube i back flushed the filter with 91 ron until all the sludge was 100% cleared, & put back the fuel pump & filter assembly & it started up 1st go!! . These bikes are over 15 years old, & because the fuel filter is inside the fuel tank, like my one it had never been looked at . I started off with list # 1 of fuel fix's & by luck, i got it, & it cost me $12.75 Australian. After that I ended up grabbing an on line a injector cleaning tool & spray can of throttle body cleaner & replaced all the 6mm tank to & from fuel rail hose's & clamps, & pressure cleaned all the injectors, & the improvement from this service job gave me back this weapon 954rr to it's old self & it only cost me $32 Aussie bucks. Some times the 1st fix try gets it, C.W
