Default wheelie questions...

i bought my 929 about a month ago, big step from the rvf400 i used to ride. on the 400 i used to pop the clutch and it would stand up. 929 doesnt take as much effort, but i find it harder to control. seems to get a foot or so off the ground before it starts valve bouncing in first. will it power up in second or should i try and shift while its on its way up? thanks for the help.

try to slip your clutch instead of powering it up. get used to how the bike will respond in first before you slip it in 2nd. after you get used to how the bike will react, you can slip it and keep it up in second. I can't do a wheelie on my bike yet, I'm talking from experience on my fourwheeler. man I can ride one forever on that puppy.

slip the clutch in second gear from about 35 or so MPH and she should float right up. preloading the front suspension a little will help too.

first gear powers easy without a doubt, second gear stand up on it and bounce before you hit the throttle and it will come up

If there is one thing I have learned about my 929 it is not to loose respect for it. I can bring it up in first just leaning back a little, second is easy to do with a bounce, but please don't loose respect for that bike or you will find yourself going all the way back. I don't want to sound like a puss and I know that you are experienced.... all I am saying is be careful.

P.S. If you clutch in in second at about 45 or so you can ride it well in to the tripple didgets... lol

get comfortable on the bike first. find what is best for you. some like power wheelies and some like the clutch. i had an f4 that i only like doing standups by bouncing and cracking the throttle. the bike is plenty powerful for either way. i can get mine to come up in 3rd by just bouncing it hard and cracking on it but you will be going very fast and is more dangerous. but play around a little and find out what feels most comfortable. that is what will probably be best for you

I don't wanna steal this guys post but what about shifting in wheelies. I can power it up in first fairly easily and can ride it till I wind out the gear. so when it's up and you shift do you use the clutch or can you just let off and click it into second. on my quad I never used the clutch but I care for my bike a little more than I do my wheeler. thanks

clutching a wheelie scares the **** out of me. It comes up too fast for me. Call me a puss if you want but I would much rather power up.
