Default What is the error percentage

On the 929. Mine has full erion exhaust, A powercommander and intake filter. Dont know if that will change it much. I have heard that what its reading is not correct by a long shot.

When you says what its reading, what do you mean? What is "it"?

NONE of your mods will have any effect on the speedometer at all.

From the factory they supposedly read about 4 to 5% high (ie: 4 or 5 mph at 100).

It depends on sprocket, tire size and wear. Mine IS 3% and it's been proven accurate all the way up to redline. 6th gear at 167MPH

It depends on the sprocket if you change it. From the factory, as in NO mods, the speedos read about 4 or 5% high, thats a pretty standard thing on bikes. Changing a sprocket makes it greater.

Why does that percent sound so little though?
I can swear mine is off much more than that. Either that or the people in my town really drive like nuts......lol

4 to 5% is not really little. And unless you have it checked, or at least have a car pace you or do something to get a good read on it, you really can't tell. Some bikes have been known to be off as much as 7%, but not more than that. Speedometers should be right on, but for a safety margin japanese motorcycle companies have thiers set 4 to 5% high.

I keep meaning to have my wife run along side me in our new vehicle and get a good read.
