your supposed to change the oil filter with every change anyhow, so shouldn't be a problem.

Shell Rotella-T full Synth 15w40 is what I ran in my 929 in the summer, after MUCH research. No problems, might be a bit thick in the winter, I dunno. As far as the clutch problem goes, you want to steer clear of "energy conserving " oils, because some contain friction modifiers that can retard clutch operation.

I've always used Honda oil in everything, and have never had a problem. my 929 had 29,000 when I sold it last week.

Amsoil is a damn good oil and filter to use in your bike. I'm a dealer for AMS but dont let that information deter you or cause you to think that I am Biased in any way. I became an independant dealer for AMS so that I could buy AMS products at whole sale prices and to generate some extra income. Using Amsoil full synthetic oil and Amsoil filter allows me to only have to change my oil once a year or every 25,000 miles. Yes thats no bull****. I typed it. Every 25,000 miles. Now dont get me wrong I still change my oil every year but only once and it costs me half of what it could cost me using other oils. AMS is an industry leader based out of Superior WI. They have air filters too. I'm not going to tell you its the best but I did a lot of research before I switched and I am glad that I did. I suggest checking it out for yourself.

i think the 25k mark is for when the oil is completely broken down. doesn't mean its good for an engine. let alone a our high performance engines.

I use royal purple 10w 40 and no problems. It's full syn. and I change it every 3000 not sure i'd trust any oil for 25k that's just to long but good luck with it!
