i have 25000 on mine will it hurt the engine to keep goin without an adjustment and my bike runs and pulls like the day it got its first mile ??

If you can hear it ticking you need to get it done. That's the sound of the cam lobe slapping into the top of the lifter every time it comes around instead of smoothly engauging it like it should. It wears things out way faster than when they are properly adjusted. Also, the more worn they get the less lift the valves get, resulting in less airflow. If you can get them done professionally for $150 or less it's worth it. I usually do all my own work on anything I own, but for the time involved, that is cheap enough to pass it off on another person.
