a "12 bar" or 12 o'clock bar attaches to the tail of the bike, and it allows you to do a wheelie called a "12" or "12 o'clock"(search YouTube if you don't know what that is) without f***ing up the tail on your bike. i've seen guys get their bikes riding on the 12 bar, climb up onto the frame sliders, and back flip off the bike.
