Default Trubo anyone?

I've been thinking about fitting a turbo to my 929. If I run conservative boost say... around 6-10psi I shouldn't have to lower the compression of the engine. If I do a little constructive adjustment to the timing curve and the fuel maps with say, a PCIII. My current reffernce book is Maximum Boost by Corky Bell. I've used his indepth teachings to built a nice turbo engine for my 87 RX-7TII. I need to size a turbo for the bike, then make a good exhaust manifold... mmm fun welding and stuff. Any thoughts or helpful sites would be appreciated.

Right now I'm just sizing a turbo for it. I need to do some tear down on the bike to get a good idea of how much room I'll have to work with and where I'll want to place the turbo. I think I might end up relocated the radiator, but we'll see. Another problem is going to be intercooler placement I'm not really sure what it will run to build, what with dyno time and fabrication costs.

dude first of all that is awesome. Second, IMO if you run any more boost than 6 psi you will be need to lower compression or get some forged rods and pistons. 10 psi?? you will need an intercooler, the temperature will just be to hot. Plus 10 psi will make your bike a crazy death trap.

Yeah, I know that would be why I'm not planning on running more than 8psi. I mean really I guess I could pull the engine apart, I'm just not that motivated to do a rebuild on a still functional engine, mabye if I pop it. I don't think that will happen though. I'll be using a manual boost controller with a greddy waste gate. I've seen a couple of engines pop and heard of a few more because the electric controller had a brain fart. Even at 8psi thats still 54% more air making it into the engine. As yet I haven't seen any compressor maps that I was impressed with, I was hoping that I could find a GT serries Garret, but alas its not to be. I'm still looking though.

Could you take a turbo off a small car that had one factory? Any car engine is gonna have more cc's than a 929 so then you wouldn't have to run as much psi. Most junkyard will let you pull one and not charge 2 much. It's a thought. Sounds like fun 2 me, good luck.
