Tires
Hey guys.. I have a 2001 929 recently purchased. Bike came with Metzler Sportec M1 tires which are fairly new plenty of thread left w/ little buds still on 'em. I just wanted to know what people thought about these Metzlers. I'm thinking Michelin Pilot Powers or Dunlop Qualifiersare probably better I had them bothonce before on another bike. Like I said theseMetzlers are like new so I'm wondering if I should just keep them or ditch them for a better tire. They say most of the tires today are pretty good. Any thoughts or experiences anyone has had with these Metzler Sportec M1's please share. Thanks...
i bought a m1 for a back tire for a 600 i had a couple years ago and i only got about 1400 miles on it and i said i would never buy another lol i run Michelin Pilot Powers and i like them fine but if i where you i would run the tire untill i ***** it out then buy a pilot power
You should ditch the M1, they're junk....give it to me, and I'll take care of the disposal! LOL Just kidding. But seriously, I had some M1's on my last bike and it was an alright tire. From my experience, the mileage that you get out of them can be on the shallow side. I have Power's on the 929, and they're great. I don't have ANY complaints....
for the streets... Pilot power 2CTs are the best... rated @ 9.5/10 is the dry and 10/10 in the rain.. they're the beststreet tires in the world.... my group rides are about 20-40 riders each weekend, and 80% are using 2CTs...
you cant go wrong with 2CTs... they last for a long time on the streets and track....... they're even last longer than slicks and race DOT tires on the track....about $350 FOR a set..
Im running Race DOT tires,, i've running pirelli dragon super corsas pros since last summer, they are good for the streets too,, but they're suck in the rain or damp roads... they only last about 1800-2000 miles on the streets and 2 days on the track... 5th set since mid Aug 08.
Metzler M1s are okay, but dont ride hard in the twisties, i prefer M3...
