Congrats on passing test.

1. The wire came off the back side of radiator should connect to the fan switch/thermostat. When coolant inside radi boils up to certain degree, the switch signal the fan to turn on.

2. The thermostat that opens up when reach boil point to let cooler coolant in from the water pump is located on the right side (clutch cover side) under the head cover. If you take the gas tank off, say you are sitting on bike, it's right hand side of engine block near the head cover. Take off the housing, and a round shape ( UFO like) inside housing.

thermostat is under the air box, above the starter, next to the throttle bodies, in the center of the bike. it's in a housing with a bunch of cooling hoses attached to it.

if you're going to all the trouble to remove it, why not just replace the darn thing? dont forget to replace the seal as well.

Before u take off th thermostat, make sure th fan is working which then rules out th temp sensor switch. Then check all th hoses for leaks. Make sure ur radiator isn't clogged or have a lack of air flow cuz of bent fins. Then check that ur water pump isn't leaking which would indicate its crapped out. U can check if coolant is running thru th engine properly by keeping a close eye on th catch can. If th water level rises as th bike gets hot then ur good. Th only time th thermostat is taken off is when its gonna b replaced, usually.
