Default Stock 929 chain length.

Still working on my money pit and ordered a new chain that proclaimed it was for a 2001 CBR 929. I have about 2 1/2 inches of chain or so that makes the chain to long. I have ordered and received a service manual and it says nothing. I am %100 sure I am going to remove length from the chain but need to know the length of a stock chain to do this. I don't want to screw this yup and have to buy another chain. Thanks

Stock should be 108. If you ordered longer, like a 120, you will need to cut links off. Put the new chain on the sprockets and see where it needs to be cut to. Remember, it will be an even number of links.

I counted 59 links. Maybe my idea of links and yours is different.

Did you count the master link?

that would be 60 sets, or a 120 link chain. A link is the roller part that sits between teeth.

Got it. It's a 120 link chain. I need to get rid of 5 sections or 10 links.

That would make it 110. You can try that, but I think you will need to get it to 108 if your looking for stock length. Are your sprockets stock size?

All stock. It had an extension on the swing arm but I took that off. Probably sell it on eBay or something. That's why I bought a new chain.
