Default steering dampers

Any recommendations? Anyone done back-to-back on the various ones out there?
Or are they all pretty much as good as one another?

I have a Toby steering dampner on my 01 and I like it. I have heard Scotts dampners are good too but I have not tried one for myself.

Any steering stabilizer is going to be a huge improvement if you ride the bike hard (corners). If you are not getting all the way over on the edges of your tires, then you might not really need one. They are all plenty expensive, but I feel it was worth every penny. I have a Scotts and love it. Lots of ajustablity such as sweep and high and low speed damping. Totally rebuildable too. I was patient and looked and looked on ebay and got one for about $250 with the mounting kit. I couldn't be happier with it. If I had to get another one I would not hesitate to get another Scotts.

I also have a toby. A buddy of mine has a scotts. I guess the thing that sold me was that the piston style dampers boast something called active dampening due to twin chambers for resistence. This is not mentioned with the scotts or gpr's. They have something called reactive dampening. I personally don't know other than using the piston style. I bought mine brand new from indysuperbikes, cuz I didn't want to take the chance of spening 250 plus dollars on something only to have to rebuild it too. So, for another 50 + bucks, I bought new.

The best part about the piston style is that you only have to reach like 2 inches to make the adjustments.

I have a Scotts on my 2000 CBR929RR and what a difference it made. The steering is much tighter and smoother. No head wobble coming off corners on a rough road. The bike stays solid and true. Also when coming down from a wheelie there is no more head shake. I had a good one last year luckily i road it out but now I don't have to worry about it, much safer now. I choose Scotts after reading reviews from others and the company has a reputation of making excellent product and this one has High and Low speed adjustment not that you will be using that. Remember you get what you pay for( I bought mine new, less worry and hassle)

Any damper is better than none. Their was a guy that used a stock one off a ducati and milled his own brackets.
