Sprockets!!!!!!!! Help!!!
ok hi all i have checked with my local GOOD dealer... LOVES cbrs...... anyhow.... i keep reading about -1 +2 in rear..... and my dealer called RK themselves and told me they dont make a 45 R sprocket.... STEEL.. they make a 46......... so stock is a 43...... so i think going -1F and +3 rear will be too INSANE... or too drastic.. i went to the gearcommnder website someone posted and saw how drastic it was..... my dealer suggeste -1 in the fron and call it good... he tells me 99.9% of ppl just drop one in front...... but AGAIN all i read about is -1 f +2 r.................. so im asking would -1 F be better then just +3 in rear....... howsthis work....? lol.. i know the chain n sprocket subject is beaten to death... but please help gimme any advice u have... TY

I did the -1 down mod on my bike, kept it that way for about a year, my bike makes considerably more power than a stock 929, so, the mod for me was a no go, I went back to the stock gearing. I was pulling the wheel up pretty consistantly in the form configuration, and the throttle, because of the added power, and lower gearing made the bike a tiche twitchy, and when your at lean, you don't want twitchy, you want smooth. with the stock gearing, the bike's gearing is better for alot of stuff that I ride (not track days, but alot of spirited fast paced weekend riding on deserted back country roads)
Something like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yGuZwnhk9p8 That was last weekend's excursion...those don't happen every weekend..you get em while ya can

did the exhaust cam swap, shaved, ported and polished the heads, used the thinner head gasket as well, estimating compression at 13 to 1, (thats what it works out to anyway) Full Micron exhaust, PcIII power commander, I also have a custom fairing for it, that adds cold air induction (however, due to a recent crash, its not on the bike..hope to have it back again soon, not a huge difference in horsepower, but it feels "smoother" and stronger during a roll on. The bike has been dynotuned, and custom mapped. Probably have 5k in engine mods all told..last dyno was 148 hp at the rear wheel. The bike runs strong of course, but the real goal was to get it as smooth as possible..I'm a twisty rider, not a stunter, so wanted smooth throttle reponse..every dyno I've had it on, the guys say the same thing...smoothest bike they've ever had on there. oh, valve springs were replaced too (titanium) Redline is a bit higher than the indicated 11,500 rpm (stock) Also did the flapper mod as well, K & N air filter too.

-1 +3 is not that much different than -1 +2, go for it if you want, Mine was -2 +10 when I bought it, I hated it, too much rpms on the highway, and first 3 gears were useless, I went back to stock 16 front 43 back, thinking about going to 16/42 next time, the front end still goes up in the air in first gear ( I want to eliminate that).
