Default Speedometer goes in and out.. help!

Hey guys, I just got my 929 yesterday... i got it with a bare back tire and the speedometer only works when it wants too... I got the back tires replaced last night, now im working with this speedometer issue. I have replaced the speedometer sensor that goes in the top of the engine, no luck. It will work for like the first 10 seconds of the ride, then it goes down to 0. then while your riding it might jump back up to the true speed, but it only stays for a few seconds. Any help would be appreciated... I need to get this fixed asap. Thanks guys, I look forward to being part of this forum.

You are probably best off to go to a shop and see if they can check the connections for a short, or if the speedo itsef is bad. You will end up getting dozens of guesses on here, but thats all anyone can do is take a shot at it. Can't diagnose an electrical problem over the net. There are so many things it could be its hard to know where to even start.

Does the bike have mods? Could it have a speedo healer or other speed correcting device installed? What all do you know about the bike from the previous owner?

Well after riding it for the first "long ride" I think it is the wiring. The panel works only at times, and the odometer only showed .4 miles after I had driven around 20-30... im assuming that the few times the speedo came on, the odometer started ticking... Im not sure, about the wiring, is there a diagram of an adobe doc with the 929's? I plan on taking the front fairing/light out, and guage cluster to check the wires... and possibly the tank b/c the fans didnt kick on and the bike got to 227 F.... i think the wires must be pinched or something along those lines....
