Default on power commanders

hi ..

i have some questions about the PC combined with the 929.

first, the 929 hit the streets in 00-01. so the pc that was available at that time was the pc2. the pc3 et al didn't come in until 03 or there abouts. so, there are both pc2 and pc3 units around for the 929. it is easy to find info about the pc3usb, though it is harder to get info on the pc2 and i am looking for some help.

if a pc2 were to fall into my hands, what would i want to see? i assume that the maps can be had on the dynotec web site, but what about the connector cable? or is the pc2 just factory mapped and you get what you get? or is it just best to steer away from a pc2 all together?

also, has anyone done any checking on the effect of a pc (2 or 3) on a standard setup (stock filter and exhaust)? they say that it smooths out the mapping and cleans up throttle response at less than full throttle. Any comments?

thanks,

i have a pc2. the pc2 comes with a serial connection and not a usb like on the pc3. it does make throttle response very smooth and very instant. it would be nice to have a pc3 but so far the pc2 is good on my bike. and yes you can get the dyno maps from their website.. like they had a yoshi pipe/kn filter {or stock filter} combo for DL.

not all pcIII's have usb ports,

I'm running one on my 929 and it has the seriarl port cable.

now I've found that you can get a serial port to usb adapter for the cable from like radio shack for $40 bucks or if your computer doesn't have the 9 hole connecton in the back you can get a 9 to 25 prong adapter cable for $8 bucks.

neither worked for me but you might have better luck, my laptop is on its last legs!

the other thing is that according to hardcore racing , their is no such thing as a pc 2 just pc3's

pc3, pc3r, and pc3usb

I have a pc3 from a 954 and since I can't change the map that is in it, I'm running a hass map and my gas milage has increase a lot, almost 50 miles until my idiot light come on, and it feels a hell of a lot faster!!!

I have other mods, I guess the pc3 just helped me get the most ut of them!

What exactly would you get from a PC. low end , high end, all around better response? are they worth it price wise?
