Default Please Help!!

Okay.. First off, I ride a 2001 929. I ride with the American Legion Riders and the Patriot Guard. For those of you who don't know what we do, we ride for active, reserve, and prior military homecomings, deployments, and funerals. When we ride, everyone has a 3x5 flag mounted to the back of their bikes. Now most people ride cruizers and it very easy to mount a pole to their bikes. I am very good with my hands, but not so much with design/engineering. Will SOMEONE please help me figure out how to mount a pole to my bike. Oh yeah, it must be on the back of the bike, not interfere with any signals/lights. PLEASE HELP!!!

Take off your rear seat or just open it and use the frame to mount a bracket. I believe there should be atleast a couple of 3/8" bolts on either side that can be removed and replaced with longer ones to mount the flag pole. Hope that helps.

I'm in the Navy as well....

You might be able to find a bike pole bracket (kids bike stuff) at a local bike shop and attach it to the passenger footpegs....You may need to do a little McGyver'ing, but it could work. If not, get a longer stick and put it in a backpack. I helped planting flags at a US Memorial Cemetary and a bunch of us took the flags and stuck'em in our backpacks...worked out well...

If you can Macgyver it right, here is what you can do...

it depends upon how flimsy the metal is for the pole of the flag.. Make a bracket and fit it via bolt or something onto the inner part of the "trunk". Bend it so it fits right onto the bike and comes out the stands the right way.

Or you can drill a small hole into the underside of your trunk and ya'll have th bend the pole to make a 90* angle, but that would work as well..

I'll take a look at my 929 when I get home from work today and see if I can't think of something...
