Oil Change
Ok guys/girls I'm in need of an oil change. I don't want to buy oil from the dealership b/c we all know it's gonna cost a small fortune. So who has a suggestion of what to use. I know it's 10w40 but is it supposed to be regular motor oil or synthetic. I bought the bike used, the guy said he used the equivelent of factory but i dunno what the factory used so..... help me out here.
Thanks for all the help!!
i'll be asking alot more questions as the time goes by i'm sure and i get to know my bike a lil more.

RE: Oil Change
Im with sixs929....Shell Rotella (walmart $9 a gallon) is an excellent choice. Also, Chevron Delo 400 (walmart $9 a gallon) is also a great choice.
With oil filters... I heard to stay away from Fram. I use Mobil 1 filters ($10 apiece Autozone) Purolator and Bosch ($6 apiece)are good choices too.

RE: Oil Change
Also, TweakedCBR929RR, what I did was play it safe - I did the research, chose the oil I wanted to use, and did a full oil and filter change to make sure I had nothing but the chosen stuff in there.
As far as mixing synthetic and regular (mineral-based) oils, check out this Shell Rotella link for some answers. http://www.rotella.com/answer/may2005.html
And I keep forgetting to say what a great-looking bike you've got there, man.
