Default Ohlins dampener with Harris bracket does not fit?

Hello all. I, touch wood, have had some trouble free runs out and i am starting to think I will keep this 929 for a good few years rather than be tempted to get a gsxr k5 or busa. Anyway, I bought a beaten up ohlins dampener with Harris bracket but when I installed it the bracket to the yoke stem would not catch more than a couple threads and then popping when tightened, making it a no go. The only way the nut would remotely work was to invert it but again only a couple more turned than prior due to the edge being fluted. Am I missing something? It was suppose to be for a 929.

I could be wrong, but i don't think that goes there. Shouldn't it be on the fork?

I thought the same but this is the only way it's dimensions work. Also the main bracket has a protruded section under the bracket that seats into the yoke perfectly.
