Default New old guy

Well my first sportbike was an RZ 350 back in 1983. Since theni have had almost every harley model made and everything from anIndian to aDucati. My question is that i bought a 2001 929, put a full Titanium Akrapovic system on it with a PC3'R, a 520 chain conversion with1 downin the front and 2 up in the back. I also put a SCOTTS steering dampner on it with a set of Pilot powers. With my gearing should ibe scared to run against the newer bikes(not top end) or are they that much faster. This thing is a handfull if you keep it atredline, cant imaginea whole lotmoreas far as quickness. Great site by the way.

You should be fine your biggest problem with the gearing you have is going to be keeping the front end down. If you're going to be dragging you might want to add some stainless brake lines. Post some pics too when you get a chance. We love to see new members bikes.

Depends on what they say.. if they say "oh it'll do like 400mph, its so fast, faster than anyother bike ever. That why they call it a GIXXER!" Well no it isn't as fast as they say.

I'm sure your a good enough rider (assuming by how long you've been riding) to beat newer bikes in a race. All sportbikes a fast the biggest difference is always going to be the rider. And the new gixxer 1000 is insane fast.

I agree;quickness is 25% bike and 75% rider. However anyone can go fast in a straight line. Im a "kneefag" I go barely over the flow of traffic in town, but once in the mountain twisties.....hehehe
In regards to the 07 Gixxer1000 my best friend procured one this spring and its insane fast. Yet very rideable.. If that makes any sense
