Default New CBR1000 or keep 'ol 929??

Hey Guys,

Has anyone here thought about giving up their 929 for a 08 and up CBR1000rr? As much as I love my Erion, such a good looking bike..lol.. the prices for a leftover 08 CBR1000 are looking tempting. You can get an 08 new for under $8000 maybe under $7000 some places. It will be hard to part with the Erion, but its just about a 9 yr old bike and I just hit 10k which isn't much mileage, however, there's still a few more rides b4 the winter hits here in northeast. An Erion book value is $5015 right now and with my bikes fairly low mileage, extremely clean, and accessories I might get $5300 for it so the new bike won't cost me much outta pocket after selling Erion. I would love to keep both but cant ride 'em at the same time..lol.. The Erion is a much better looking bike than the 08 then there's the huge trunk factor of the 929 which is hard to give up. 08 is growing on me though starting to look better. So what do you guys think 929 or 08 1000??

What are your intentions with getting this newer bike? More power, better handling, styling? My personal opinion is keep what you have I love my 929 and am constantly getting complements on the styling. Not to mention the bike is a dream when it comes to ridability very predictable. On another note you don't have any payments why start? If you want to spend $$ put it into mods for you 929. You asked I told. Best of Luck

P.S. I think the '08-'09 are alittle hard on the eyes. The fairings are next to nothing and there is absolutely no compartment space like our bikes. I wish the 600rr styling had the liter bike's motor.

Yeah your right and you just about convinced me to keep my bike. The newer bikes are near ugly, they just don't have the styling and colors of the earlier bikes. They're very plain looking just black and a solid fairing color which like you said isn't much of a fairing. As for storage you can just about fit two bottles of water in the new bike nothing compared to 929. My reason for upgrading is to get more power and handling. Our bike handles good so I doubt the new bike is that much better. Power wise, on the street w/ a few mods our bike can hang w/ the 1000 under normal conditions, but on the track the 1000 wins. Also I want to get some money for my Erion now while its worth something. Next year if I keep it probably will depreciate a thousand dollars or more. Thanks for your input. Decisions..Decisions
