Birde has got the best advice for you. the 929 has a lot of ***** for a young man. be careful for a while and yes the first time you hammer down on it, you should get the hell scared out of you self if not make sure you have a really good life insurance policy with me on it. be good and don't bend it.

welcome to the forum, I too recently purchased a 01 929 black and yellow. Great bike, just treat it and its power with the upmost respect at all times, because when you don't she'll turn on you like a pitbull.

Welcome, ben8702. Well if I'm anything to go by ( 48 years old and the 929 as my first bike ) you should do fine - I've had mine a year and haven't dropped it yet ( key word "YET"). And it ain't for lack of trying This bike is a very well-behaved girl if you treat her right.

But remember, I've been driving for 32 years. All interaction with other drivers and road hazzards is second nature to me, so I can fully concentrate on controlling the bike, y'know what I mean? I know when I was 18 I thought I had the driving thing down solid - we all do at that age. I guess my point is, play it safe for now, and when you're out there, expect the worst, consider yourself invisible to other drivers, and be ready to react to any hazzard you can imagine. We want to see you on the forum when you're 19, man.
You got a great machine - enjoy it and be proud of her.

hey guys just got my 929 about 1 week ago, hammer first gear huh if i could keep it down and the d&d exhaust wouldnt scare me i think i would be alright but man this thing is fast it also has been lowered very nice look for the bike, but ? on the lowering if u have it done does that mean u lose turnability or it is better b/c that bike makes me very nervous and like the other guys says im alert 24-7 on that thing waiting for anything reaction is alittle slow but still working on it just got it and it only has 2400 miles lol not even broke in that d&d exhaust is very loud though makes it harder for me to concentrate in first anyway
