Looking at a 929RR for sale.
I have owned f2's, one f4i, and a gsxr600. I came across a 2001 929 for sale with 8700 on the clock.
The bike looks pretty good, no signs of going down, no leaks, or drips, fork seals are good. the bike is lowered 2 inches, has a full micron exhaust, k&n filter, stealth steering stabilizer, corbin seat, hot bodies undertail.
There are some minor scratches here and there, the tires are shot, the rear pads are shot, the brake fluid is very dirty. The issue is the kid bought it last year, didn't ride it much and parked it. The bike is very very hard to start and dies out a few seconds later. My guess is that I need to empty the tank, pull the injectors and rail and clean them, clean the throttle bodies, replace the orings, plugs, fuel filter and give her a go.
The guy was asking 4100, I got him down to 3300. Looking online it seems like an okay price if thats all I need to do to make it run. Tires and brakes are no biggie. So what are your thoughts of the condition and price?

I bought a bike that didnt run once. Come to find out the engine was froze because the retard decided to ride it without an air filter. Took the head off and there was an inch of rust and sand over all the pistons and cylinders. Take your chances though. I mean it can be a great deal or a bad one. Worst case is you spend 800 on an engine lol. Personally i would buy it. Im pretty mechanically inclined. Just mad a mistake and trusted someone i didnt know. If your good at diagnosing it would benefit you. But the guys on here are always willing to help to. So i say go for it!!!

Now is definitely a great time to buy a motorcycle, there's some really good prices out there.. for that bike I would say 3300 would be acceptable but the engine thing would kinda worry me. If it were me I would keep looking and try to pick up something newer, there's some dirt cheap bikes right now.

its a risk but look at the bike for what you believe it to be wrong. assuming how much it will cost to fix that. Then look at the other end of the spectrum WHAT IF you do need a new engine? look at that cost along with the 3300, is it still worth 3300, 4100 est if you have to put a engine in it. So is it worth it to you?
