Looking At This 929RR
$4k is a good price. Just make sure it runs good and hasn't been. Shouldn't hear too much clanking and such. Engine noise will be some, shifting from 1st to 2nd will be some noise/clunk but not bad. Brake fluid can be changed, oil can be changed so don't worry about that too much IMO(In my opinion). If you romp on the throttle and it goes or the front wheel comes up then it should be fine engine wise. Shift through all 6 gears and give it gas in all gears, shouldn't bog down. It looks very very clean.
Also it seems like they have an aftermarket windscreen, just so you know. Good luck.

Good things to look for though and will add them to my checklist...
I just bought a 2000 929 with just under 24,000 for only two thousand dollars. I would offer blue book value, and maybe a couple hundred more, but nowhere near 4,500. Maybe 3,500. They are great bike though. Check the brakes, the shifting, the oil, and any records. If they have records I may pay more, but if they have no records I wouldn't pay near that price. Good luck.
and about the windscreen, the factory one will be clear and have some black near the bottom and say "HONDA" in white writing. The one you are looking at appears to be either a chrome one or silver-type. Just so you know what "stock/factory" looks like.
IDK if I would pay more than $3500. I bought my Erion last summer for $4k. Granted it needed tires, but $200 later it was golden. However,929s are hard to find, especially in clean condition. So I guess if you're comfortable paying that amount of coin go for it.
