Default Japan Import??

So i tracked down the previous owner of my bike because i was having issues getting it registered as it passed through 2 other sets of hands without it being registered.

So i got the history of the bike from him, and he told me that the bike was imported from japan!! well i know they are all imported from japan but what i was told was that it was sold in japan then imported here with
some illegal stuff in the tail section, was siezed at customs and sold at a police auction in canada!!

Is there anyway to tell if indeed this bike was for the japan market?

Hmmm thats quite a story. Ask your local DMV (or whoever handles vehicle registrations up there) what you gotta do. Theres gotta be some way to register it.

I know one of my buddies bought a brand new r1 over in japan while he was in the Marines and they shipped over state side for him.

yea it is quite a story. im going to be able to reg it now because i got the guy whos on the owner ship to write me a bill of sale, so i can ignore the other one i got from the guy i bought it from.

****ed up thing is the reg'd owner lives 2 blocks from me!!
i thought that was random.

but yea, the reg'd owner sold it to an 18yr old kid on aug 24th/09, who rode it for 2k before giving it to the guy i bouht it from and either of them registered the bike with the dmv. its ****ed, but all should be well now. i hope.

Some are made in the U.S. as well, they're not all imported from Japan.

idk man but the story sounds suspect. i work at a port and have seen lots of that **** but to smuggle it in a bike or anything that obvious and small doesn't make much sense.
