Default Interchangeability?

HI all.
I just pick up a basket case 929.
I need front forks bottom tripple tree
All plastic including all of the rear seat area.

I have read the 954 plastic will work as long as its all of it.
I see sftermarket on Ebay is it any good or crap?

What about the front forks. I think the lower part of the forks are OK. They are bent just below the bottom tree so I may be able to swap some parts over to different model forks if its workable? I see 600 and 1000 are inverted too?

It also looks like the force of impact streached the bolt that goes through the front end brgs. The frame looks OK. The brgs had about .030" play from the bolt being streached and the bottom adjusting nut doesnt want to come off because the threads are streached. I hvent got the brgs apart yet. Is there any simple checks to see if this area is bugered? I'm thinking, removing the brgs and measuring where the brgs are pressed into to see of the holes are out of round.

I am from Alberta Canada and used 929 parts are rare. I picked up the bike for a song, was going to put the motor in and 8x8 argo but I dont think the origional trany will take the HP. So I am thinking parting the bike back together rather than parting it out.

If anyone has some imfo. or some parts of FS let me know.

THanks
STephen

I know the 1000 forks will work in the 929/954. The 600's I think have smaller axles? I have 1000 forks and wheels on my 954. The forks are the same diameter, so you can use the original triple. I remember reading somewhere the 1000 forks are about and inch shorter then the original 929/954 forks? Either way the radial brakes and better forks are a great combo! Hope this helps. Lee.

Hi not_agn,

Do you know if the stock 929 front wheels, axle and brake rotors will work with 1000 forks?

Or do we need a complete set of front end from the 1000rr?

thank you,

Hey thanks.

I looked at a few street fighters on the forum and they look great I think i am going to go that rout if I cant find decent plastic. I will post some picks when I get to puting the 929 back together.

Im looking for almost all of the parts in the seat area and both fenders if anyone has any they want to get rid of, a little road rash is ok.

The 929 wheels will work. The 929 rotors will work with the 07 1000 set up. The 04-06 I think use smaller rotors. There are spacers inbetween the calipers and the forks on the 07 to fit the larger rotors. You can just get the spacers from the dealer if you end up with the 04-06 forks and calipers. I think the 06-07 have a little better fork also?
