Default How bad could it be

I am in needofpiecesfor my '01 929 that don't seem to show up on the forum regularly so I am dutifully checking the interweb for the who/what/where/when and how.

Has anyone been able to order from ebay and deliver from Hong Kong? Problems? Or just take my chances.

thx in advance.

what pieces do you need? If you are talking about the fairing kits they take a few weeks to come in and are thinner than factory and are slightly off, meaning the alignment of parts can be difficult.

Exactly.
I don't require the complete set but it might nice to have an entirely new fairing kit. From aftermarket I would probably buy any of the following: SharkSkinz, OPP or Airtech, but then I need to have them prepped, painted and decal'd. I cannot seem to find "nice" used pieces from any particular place.

well like triax said the fitment is slightly off, But my friend did the telefonica set from hong kong and with minor work it came out mint.. The only issue would be getting the tank to match whatever color/replica you pick..

Right. Minor work would be the realignment of mounting tabs and the like to fit onto the fairing brackets. Some trimming probably as well. Because of the thinner skins, didyour friendput any thermal wraps around the exhaust systemto prevent any heat warping?

It really wasnt that involved, he only had to make a few of the mounting holes slightly larger (i guess cause of the paint) and on the right side the upper fairing sticks out over the mid but you cant see it unless you lean over and someone points it out.. he didnt wrap the exhaust and has not had any issues with it melting/warping... i must say it looks perfect and the stickers are all clearcoated over so they will not peel or fade.... he also lucked out because he had the blue and black scheme before so his tank is a damn near perfect match
