high mileage 929

RE: high mileage 929
My street 929rr has 26k on it. It has spent a lot of time on one wheel or the other. A lot of time at rev limiter too. No valve shimming needed.
My track 929 has 11K on it (2,000 of those miles were on the race track over the last four years) Two crashes as well. Nothing more than cosmetic damage and levers. (see my WTB post) No valve shimming needed.
Never had an issue with either; but I ALWAYS keep good clean oil in it and ALWAYS let the temp get to at least 110 degrees indicated before I move the bike. I do not really open it up until at least 160 degrees indicated.
What weight of Rotella diesel oil do you use? Does it come in diff weights?

Here in Aus we dont have Rotella but a few guys i know use Delo 400 LE SAE 15W-40 with great sucess. Particulary in a CBR250 with over 70kkm on the clock and gets floged constantly.
I use AMSOIL MFC 10w-40 i like it a lot, prob the best oil that i have used in the 929, i used motul before that and tried redline before that in another bike. Its got good HTHS (High Temperature/High Shear Viscosity) of 4.5 and a high TBN of 11.
Maybe one day i will give the diesel oil a try in my bike.

RE: high mileage 929
I have 30,500 on mine and everything is still strong...throw a code once in a while due to oil pressure issues but other than that have had no tranny probs or anything. Here in nashville you can't anything for a bike over 10k in miles, people think that high mileage means piece of ****.
