Default Gear Indicator ????

I have decided to get the Acumen Gear Indicator (Blue LED).Ihave a 2001 929 so i have to wire it in because they dont make a plugn play harness for my bike. Theysaid i have to have 3 things for the indicator to work.Digital speedo, no ABS, and a digital tach for it to work. I have a mechanical tach on the bike now but need to know if there is a wire in the harness for the digital tach. Thanks

The tach line is the black/yellow line, if memory serves (or is it yellow/green)?
Someone know off the top of their heads?

I installed a DataTool gear indicator on my 929 awhile back, here's the wiring loom color code for the929 under "Fireblade Inj 2001/2".

I had a handy step-by-step guide someone worked upbut can't find it anywhere. Basically itrecommended that after you cuta wirethat you test if that killed the funtion you expected it to and to have some wire splices handy if you have any level of color blindness! Good luck on the project.

...also be sure to solder the connections, don't just twist and tape. I slipped on heat shrink tubing before doingeach splice. You'll need to cut back a bunch of electrical tape from the stock harness which will also provide some slack.

It may sound obvious but mount the indicator where you want it and test if the wiring will reach OK. I had a gear indicator installed on my first 929 by the local bike shop. Went to pick it up and they said "....uh, it will be awhile longer, the mechanic spliced it in and then realized it would not reach to the left side of the instrumentpanel where you wanted it mounted."
