Default front wheel axle question.

hey guys just a quick question. got a 929 front end on a f3 build.

the axle protrudes on the left hand side and to me that just seems out of place, can't find any pics online to compare it to but I'm thinking maybe I've wound up putting the spacers round the wrong way or maybe it does just sit like that.

I'm getting a bit of binding on the brakes after a thorough rebuild, thinking (hoping) it might be down to alignment.

any idea if it should be flush or like my pic shows?

massive thanks to anyone in the know.

//

build thread on my page or in the f3 section if you're interested.

IIRC, it should sit fairly flush.

I can check for sure when I get home

Give me about 8 hours to get to my bike. I tried looking through all my pictures, but there aren't any that are close enough to the wheel to tell.

IIRC, that thickened part of the axle with the Allen head is wider than the fork leg. Some of it pulls in and through (because that wheel's spacer is smaller than the other spacer for the side with the bolt).

Can you measure how much its sticking out?

Measure the length of the fat part of the axle + plus its small wheel spacer.

Subtract the width of the fork leg and spacer (w/lip) from your first number.

Any left over would be what should hang outside. If the 2 numbers equal each other, it means it should be perfectly flush.

Hopefully that fixes your brake issue then. Sorry about the wrong info in your build thread where I said I though a little hung out.

juggling time between multiple bikes is a pain, just a quick update with the problem.

pulled the wheel off and turned the spacers round to opposing sides like follows.

[/url]

thin spacer with lip to left hand side (whilst sitting on the bike)

and the longer spacer to the right hand side (whilst sitting on bike)

managed to scrape up the hub whilst spinning it on the stand, mashed the callipers of the rim and took a pile of paint off as well... working in a rush is never a good idea.

its still protruding in a similar manner this way round,

i have taken notice of what you said on the other post conrice, just had a small window of opportunity to get to it today so tried it this way round.

so once I've got the wheel s back on the 11, ill have the front paddock stand back and i'll pull the front wheel off and properly check it out... hopefully the end of next week, had been hoping for a quick fix with this today but no luck ehh.

Spacer with the lip goes on the right side.

Stupid question, but are you loosening the pinch bolts enough before tightening the axle nut?
