front forks / accident
Hello. I downed my bike not that long ago. the alternator is busted open, and the lower engine case is cracked. Should I just replace the engine as a whole? Will it be really hard to take apart the swingarm, engine, etc, to change the lower engine case? Any special tools? I'm am ok with the wrench - I have a mustang that I tweak all the time. Also, I can't seem to get the front forks off. There seems to be a tool that I need to remove th forks. Any help is greatly appreciated!!!
Removing the forks doesn't require any special tools.
- put the bike on a rear stand
- put the front on a stem stand (or suspend it from, say, the rafters of your garage)
- remove the front brake calipers
- remove the front wheel
- remove the front fender
. loosen the pinch bolts on the triple trees
- loosen the pinch bolts for the clipons.
the forks should slide right out.

no - not part of the frame. It's the black plate that holds the top of the forks together on the top. I got a new one that came with the forks that I bought. I just need to change them, that's all.
