Default fluctuating idle...

on my 01 929 with 14000 miles when heated up and idling the idle fluctuates between 1200 and 1500 rpm is this normal? it has new plugs new k&n new oil full exhaust and power commander anyone else notice this. i hate getting the bike out for the first time im always paranoid and hearing all kinds of new sounds and such lol.

I don't think it's normal, but I don't think it's terrible, exactly. My understanding is that in FI engines, you'll only jump around on idle due to vacuums either stuck open or plugged.

I may be off, I I'm certain that's really one of the only things that will cause a bounce in idle.

So is it like you're sitting at a stop light and it just kinda bounces around or does it raise and lower with somesort of consistency?

it does it consistently but its so small you cant really feel it i just had the bike running and hooked to my laptop through the power comander and it fluctuates from about 1229 to 1345 pretty reguarly but the fan does kick on and off and the bike is hot at 215 but thats because it is just sitting and idleing in the drive way so... i think its normal not really causing any problems i was just curious? i need to have it dynoed and tuned by a shop not with just these basic maps.

its not going to idle at one exact rpm, it'll bounce around a little. wheel spin while in neutral is ok. as long as the bike isnt trying to pull or stall out while in gear with the clutch pulled in its ok too.

My idle is good but mine will the same on the stand too! I bought a 954 clutch and basket when the time comes.
