even if you weld it you will never get a proper seal again and you will have a oil leak , if you have insurance you might want to claim it and they could total out your bike or just replace the motor

Ok...

You do not need a new engine.
Jb weld doesn't work.
If you claim it, this will total the bike.

It can be fixed.

Had the same problem, speaking from experience here.

Hopefully, your guy is a good welder, and you're in good shape.

Drain all the oil before you weld, and make sure there is none on the stater that can drip into the welding area.

most important... CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN! If there is any oil present when you weld, you are going to have air (oil) pockets in your beads.

I can't tell exactly on the first picture if there is a bolt hole to use, but if so, your job is a thousand times easier.

After it is all clean, put on your new stator cover without the gasket... use every bolt to make sure everything will align properly, and simply use the bolt holes to align the broken pieces in place. Because you're going metal to metal, it will ultimately help the gasket seat properly later.

You have pleanty of room to work with, so get a nice bead on each broken piece from the outside. (you'll probably have to move coolant lines, and other things that can melt.

So, after he's spot welded the pieces back in place, you can take off the cover and complete the welds. I went all the way to the inside, leaving a bead on what should have been the smooth part of the case that I carefully filed back down. It is just aluminum after all.

If you want to be extra sure you won't leak after the welding is done, you can safely use 2 gaskets 1 on top of the other. This will help take up any space that may be there, and prevent leaks.

Well, I think that's it. Any problems or questions... or hell, pics of mine, feel free to ask.

And ooh, PS....

If you think I'm wrong feel free!... In that case your bike is now totaled! And I'll give you a grand cash for it!
