Default do i need an o2 sensor?!

hi, new owner here bike has a jardine slip-on i have some wire hanging with a melted plastic end im guessing what was an o2 sensor at one point. i realize there is no threadhole for a o2 sensor, does the bike need one?? i dont have a powercommander or anything. also i think ppl ride w/o them and say you dont, but wouldnt that mean that the ecu thinks its getting tons of fresh air i.e. using tons of gas?? wouldnt the afr's be waay off????

my buddy had a 929 with a hangin 02 sensor. he also had a full system yoshi. he put a power commander on there but she never ran exactly right. a local highly recommended mechanic said he could remove the entire smog system. does your bike do bad on gas consumption? does it run terrible?

do you have a CA edition or a 49 state bike ? by the sounds of it your jardine system is a 49 state cause it doesnt have the o2 sensor bung.

i guess its the 49 stater. the bike itself was purchased new from michigan, i live in pennsylvania. i put a new battery, coolant and rewelded the exhaust where the slip on attaches because the old owner cracked it and hacked the bike all up so now im stuck with the problems... so i started it and it idled crappy around 1k the dropped to eventually stalling ...the i started it and as soon as it went in gear it stalled so i figured the rpms were too low so then i did it while holding the throttle in a lil...well as i let the clutch out and barely pull the throttle the rpms shoot up to 4500k and sound like poop...the bike stalled when i stopped at a stop sign because the idle wasnt there. then it only starts in neutral with the clutch out , wont let me start it in gear with the clutch held in... then it only stays running when i keep revving it it doesnt idle,,sounds like rev-silence,rev-silence as the rpms jump up and back down.. please help thanks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

try adjusting the idle, there is an adjuster on the left side, you have to look for it by the air box.
