I use some "White Lightning" chain cleaning spray and a little elbow grease, but my bike sits out in the elements with a cover on. I did use a "honda" type chain cleaner, worked like a charm but it was $10 a can and it removed any dirt/grime on the chain/sprocket/swingarm. Basically anything anywhere(didn't try paint ).

No experience with WD-40 but my neighbor uses it on his chain and has never had a complaint.

you can use wd-40 to clean and lube it. it will not hurt the o rings. its does a good job. i use it weekly and take towel and clean off excess. every few weeks i use the chain wax from honda. it stays longer and is less messy

Yup,either wd40 or kerosene. A grunge brush and either of these and your chain will be like new. I've done this for a long time and never had any issues. Don't use a chain lube either.

WD40 + GrungeBrush & red shop towel to clean. Followed by quality chain lube such as Pro Honda HP w/ Moly, PJ1, Belray, Motul, Motorex, etc.
