Chain Length For Upgrading Sprockets
Hey guys! I'm not sure if this has already been talked about, but I'm thinking of going up 2 teeth on the rear sprocket. I've already went down one tooth in the front. What I want to know is, will I need to get a longer chain to accomodate the bigger rear sprocket?? Or is the change so small that it will still work with the chain I have now. Also, who all is running the -1/+2 setup and how do you like it?? Thanks for any info!

Yes it will work,no serious notible difference, minor bump up in low end pull.....

Rear tire will sit close to the swing-arm. Pulling about 140 through a low water crossing though heading out towards Luckenbach will make the tire rub the swing arm and give you a nice gash all the way around the tire. Don't ask me how I know this... I will tell you that when I put my bike back together after paint (not from an accident), I'll be installing a longer chain.

Big D, I'm not understanding what you were saying. Your chain was too short and it made the tire rub the swingarm?? I think I might know what you're talking about if that's right.

stock gearing is 16 tooth up front and 43 in the back and a 108 link chain. I was -1 +2 and a 110 link chain was fine. I liked the setup fine but stripped all the teeth off of my rear vortex sprocket, I don't care for aluminum sprockets anymore, they don't like wheelies

Big Mike, yeah. I don't know how many links I had in my chain, just that I was -1 in the front and stock in the rear for a long time...(1 yr) prior to that I had done a new chain and sprocket so maybe the guys gave me a shorter one... I swapped out the rear sprocket like every other time and not much room in there. I've got to get a new chain.
