Default Cct help!

Ok, so I have a 2001 929rr Erion and of course it has the standard rattling that I have read every Honda seems to experience. After reading post after post I finally decided to pick me up an APE manual tensioner to take care of it once and for all. So after watching videos and reading posts I figured I could do it myself. WRONG!! The way the OEM CCT buts against the frame, it appears you have to take calf the f*&$@$g engine apart to get to that one bolt! Anyone know of a magical rachet that can weasel in there? I picked up an elbow joint and extensions for a 1/4" rachet however I can't reach the bolt! I can almost get in there but I think I started stripping the bolt. Is my only option to remove everything under the gas tank?!?

same issue on the '54. i used a wrench on mine to get it done. an 8mm wrench - it takes a lot longer and it's frustrating to do it that way, but it beats taking the motor out. no rachets. i wish.

getting the ape in is harder than taking the old one out because of how long the tensioner bolt is.

but it can go in. it helps to have the tank off, airbox (obviously) off, and TB's off (just drape them around the triple tree (don't take the throttle cables out).

Just had the same problem,I thought it would be a five minute job to check the tension but yeah it can't be done. Going to try and take the tank off and air box. Does the tank have a valve to stop petroleum leaking out ? Is it difficult to replace cct, essentially remove old and replace or are there any gotcha's ?

No... Which also sucks. I bought quick release valves off of a BMW and put them on both hoses because I wrench on my bike a lot. You could also use clamps if you are only doing this the one time...

Nope. Not hard at all. Slow because you have to use a wrench as opposed to a rachet/sockets, but other than that it's not hard.

Get a oem cct and call it a day . Never been a fan of the manual ones . 29s and 54 rattle like a nut in a coffee can . Its the nature of the beast .
