Ta vwmaniacvr6 akubra's look the same on forwards or backwards and thats the only hat you can get in Australia(ha ha).
Just thinking a bit further forward away from the front of the forks will give a longer stroke so should dampen better.
Anyway I will get a damper try a design and let you know how I go Sandor.
I don't mind a little bit of shake like I get on my SP1 (RC51 over there I think) but the 929 are tankslappers

Mine is about 1-2mm from bottoming the damper at each end of full lock on the front end. It'll be a few weeks before I can post measurements of mine because I just moved my bike to my brothers so I can do an engine swap in my garage instead of the driveway (current temp is -1F).

Something to note, this may not fit on bikes with plastics. One of the brackets bolts to what I think is the lower mount for the stock headlight. I'll put up pictures as well so people can see if my bracket size will actually work. I honestly didn't find the hohey adapter brackets until after I made mine, then stumbled upon it while looking at their dual rear brake caliper mount. I just wanted a damper and found a mint Ohlins for $120; for that price I can make sure it fits no matter what bike it came from.

No worries more pics gives me more ideas, soon design around this.
So dear for anything with bike written on it here, a ohlins for 120 bucks, cost that much for the sticker here.
A gsxr damper costs more to send here than the damper from the states

I moved it to my brother's place so I could fit a car in the garage and swap a motor in heated space instead of my frozen driveway. I should be able to swing over there tomorrow and get this rolling for you guys. Sorry for the delay.

Here are a few shots of it mounted, don't mind the rusty bolt... I took it off and home with me so I can dimension it and put up a drawing tomorrow. I designed it with a shim area on the part on the frame so I could perfectly adjust the left/right balance and keep it from bottoming out on one side while still using the maximum travel of the damper. You'll also notice I'm a function over form type of guy, but I'm sure some of you could easily use hex bolts or slight tweaks to pretty it up.

*****EDIT: The radius of the holes is wrong in the drawings, the DIAMETER is 8mm, RADIUS should be shown as 4mm. ***********

Here are sketches of the two parts with the sizes of bolts and sleeves I used. My handwriting is pretty bad, but I've been sick so it's muliplied by the Robitussin laced with codine and the skoal...

I'll draw it in google sketchup and post nice clean versions that are easier to read. I can also get those files to people via e-mail so they can re-dimension them however they want before machining the parts.

Notice in the 2nd to last picture the rusty bolt is kept from rotating by the piece itself. That was the only way I could get the spacing I needed to make it rotate the way I wanted it to, as close to the lower tree support as possible. I might add a washer under the L shaped bracket to keep the damper from rubbing like it has been. I'll do the nicer drawings in a little bit after a little break.
