Default Buying a 929

Hey all,

I'm going friday to look at an 01 CBR 929. I spoke with the guy, and the bike seems to be in pristine condition. It's got 5800 miles and quite a few parts on it. Is $6000 a reasonable price?

It's actually also on ebay, but he said he'd handle it outside of the auction.

Thanks in advance!

I have the exact same bike in excellent condition and paid $6000 a little over a year ago (all stock). I still think its a good deal!

I don't know if I would trust it. Lots of things are a little 'off' in the pictures. I'd want him to explain some things first.

-Where are the bar ends (often beat up bar ends show crash damage)
-Where is the pipe hanger bracket and rear right footpeg (the pipe is just hanging there???)
-where are the mirrors?

It looks very clean, but a little odd...

I'm sure its fine... but get some questions answered first.
the price is pretty decent, but I think you may be able to get him down a bit, & make sure you get all the parts.

That's great feedback. I'm going to go with friends of mine that have been riding for a long time. Hopefully I can get him down to 5500 or less.

Yah, it's going to be my first bike. I've ridden dirtbikes and quads and such, and all my friends have rockets. Time to jump on the bandwagon, i suppose. I was just going to walk in and get a 06 CBR 600RR, and everyone was like 'don't do it, you'll ride it for 6 months and get sick of it, wishing it had more power'.

meet up with the guy in person to look the bike over and if you like it show him $5500 cash. (make sure he has title in hand, NO TITLE NO CASH)

Yea, thats true, he said he has to pay the rest of the loan of before he gets the title. Naturally, he said i could take the bike until then. I'm going to run a carfax in the meantime... would that let me know if the bike is hot or not?

watch out for a scam. if you like the bike tell the guy to get the title first no exceptions. dont take anyone for their word. I got screwed over in a similar situation.
