Default Backfiring on the 929

Okay, so does anyone else have this problem?

I have a 01 929 w/ 148xx miles on it. I have a Two bros can, and a PCIII that I just installed.

The bike will backfire when going from a higher RPM (say in 3rd gear at 6000, and I let off to decelerate down to about 4000RPM, it will let of a small backfire. Nothing major or anything.

I've was told that the PCIII would fix this, but it didn't. I talked to a few people at the place where I got it from and they said it was normal for the bike to backfire due to built up pressure in the system from letting off the throttle. (I'll go from 60 to 50 and it'll just do it.), Also the 929's were known for doing this sometimes due to something.. (forgot what)

It doens't back fire when in neutral or lower gears, and only whenletting off. Anyone have any ideas as to what it might be or do you have this problem with your bike?

Any help would be great.

Thanks in advance!!

Default RE: Backfiring on the 929

It IS normal for a bike with an aftermarket pipe to backfire ONLY on deceleration
as for your pcIII make sure you download the proper map settings from www.powercommander.com
