Default 929 smoking and runs bad

i just got a 2000 cbr 929 with only 5200 miles on it. it sputters and smokes and it also has a oil leak from the i guess its the header and also oil around the edge of the end of the exhaust pipe. is this really bad how hard or should i say how expensive to fix.

thanks

Bum deal! My advice, don't run it or touch it. Take it back to the seller and have him fix it. It shouldn't be your problem if you just brought it home. If you've had it for a while, it may be your problem, though.

so i took the bike to the shop and we found cylinders 1 and 4 were not working so after they checked the bike out better it turns out it was the fuel pressure regulator which cause the hwole problem and was not to expensive to fix

That's great you found the problem. Did it solve the oil leaking around the header? Once those cylinders were firing again, did it burn off what might have been excess oil or something. I'm assuming the fuel pressure regulator allowed for the fuel to be evenly distributed, and that would explain why it was running so ruff? Just wanted to know to add to my knowledge. Thanks.

i am not exactly positive on what was going on but something like it was getting way to much fuel and not burning it off in cylinders 1 and 4 causing the oil to get pushed out
